Mamie Till-Mobley tells the story of her son's death and the fight she had to mount in order to have her son's body returned to Chicago from Mississippi.
Defying orders from Sheriff H. Clarence Strider, that the coffin containing Emmett's remains would remain shut, she threatened to take a hammer to open the padlock herself.
Once the pine box containing her son's body was open, Emmett's mother could not believe that her child had been so horrifically beaten - then killed by a bullet fired into his head.
