Emmett Till-Trial in a Segregated Court

When trial for the murder of Emmett Till began - in the Tallahatchie Courthouse in Sumner, Mississippi - only white men served as jurors.  Seating, during the trial, was also segregated.

In this picture, taken during a trial break - in September of 1955 - we see Roy Bryant and his wife, Carolyn Bryant.
