Thousands of years after the actual battle at Issus, between the Greeks and the Persians, a German artist named Albrecht Altdorfer (c. 1480–1538) envisioned the fight between Alexander the Great and the Persian King Darius.  This image depicts detail from the famous painting, entitled The Battle of Alexander at Issus.
