First Presidential Mansion - No. 1 Cherry Street

First Presidential Mansion-No. 1 Cherry Street

When George Washington became America's first president, he lived - for a time - in the mansion depicted here.  It was located at No. 1 Cherry Street, New York City.

The first presidential mansion - like many other historic properties which eventually fall to development - was a victim of the Brooklyn Bridge:

Among the parcels of property acquired for the New York anchorage was No. 1 Cherry Street, where was located the first Presidential residence when New York was the capital city of the country.

A plaque now commemorates where America's only unanimously elected President once lived.
