Ford's Theater - The State Box Tragedies and Triumphs American History Famous Historical Events Nineteenth Century Life Social Studies

The State Box, at Ford's Theater, as it appeared when President Lincoln attended the performance of Our American Cousin the evening of April 14, 1865. 

The theater owner had just positioned the picture of George Washington, at the front of the presidential box, that day.  It was meant to honor Lincoln's presence.
