Vincent van Gogh interpreted what he saw in real life in his paintings.  While he was a patient at the St. Paul hospital in Saint-Remy, he saw a garden outside.

This painting depicts his personal view of that garden.  Vincent created it in May of 1889.  The painting is now owned by the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo, The Netherlands.
