George Washington - Revolutionary War General

George Washington lived on his family plantation, called Mount Vernon, located along the Potomac River in the colony (now state) of Virginia. 

Called to serve as commanding general, during America's war of independence, Washington wanted nothing more than to return home after the war ended.
