Gravesite of Palawan Massacre Victims

On the 14th of February, 1952, the remains of 123 soldiers, sailors and marines—who were massacred by Japanese soldiers on Palawan Island—were interred at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery near St. Louis, Missouri.

The Americans, whom the Japanese had forced to build an airstrip on the Philippine island of Palawan, were viciously murdered after they had completed their work on the landing strip.

This image depicts their mass grave, in Section 85 of the national cemetery.
