Grip - The Illustrated Talking Raven

Grip - The Illustrated Talking Raven Poetry American History Biographies Famous People Social Studies Visual Arts

Charles Dickens originally published his story, Barnaby Rudge, in a periodical called "Master Humphrey's Clock."  The tale featured a talking raven called "Grip."  Grip was based on Dickens' own pet raven of the same name.

This illustration - of Grip and Barnaby Rudge - appeared in the serialized version ("Master Humphrey's Clock," Volume II, published in London by Chapman and Hall, in 1841).  The image appears on page 306.
