Hartford Circus Disaster - Caring for the Dead

Hartford Circus Disaster - Caring for the Dead Disasters American History Social Studies Tragedies and Triumphs Visual Arts

Police officers and circus employees begged on-scene journalists, and their photographers, to be respectful of the people who had died in the fire.  As a result, most of the media's photos were not published.

Circus employees reportedly destroyed other photos and films which people were taking of the victims, to avoid their being exploited by the tragedy.

Few publicly available pictures remain, and most - but not all - are respectful.  This photo depicts how the bodies were cared-for at the scene.
