This image, included in the United States Strategic Bombing Survey - The Effects of the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, depicts Hiroshima and its area around “Ground Zero” soon after the bomb exploded over the city.

The superimposed circles, extending outward from the Aioi Bridge—which was the bomb’s aiming point—are 1,000 feet apart.
