Jack the Ripper - Who Was He?

WARNING:  THIS CLIP CONTAINS SCENES, AND WORDS, DESCRIBING THE EXPLOITS OF "JACK THE RIPPER," WHO MURDERED SEVERAL LONDON-AREA WOMEN IN 1888.  THE MATERIAL IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR USE BY CHILDREN.  PROCEED WITH CAUTION.

Within six weeks after the last Ripper murder, the London police canceled all the resources they'd previously designated as aids to determine the killer's identity.  Did they do so because they believed they had their man?  If so ... who was he?

According to recent analysis of contemporary evidence, some experts believe that Jack the Ripper may have been Aaron Kosminski.  This clip explains the assumptions on which that conclusion is based.  Other experts disagree.

While the Ripper was at large, and his killings continued, the London press publicized the story in gruesome details.  Illustrations, just like the articles, often stretched facts (or made-up allegations).  The public didn't care - they just wanted more and more information about the goings-on.

Now, more than 100 hundred years later, Jack the Ripper's identity is still shrouded in mystery.  It's likely most people prefer it that way.
