Jackie Robinson as a Kansas City Monarch Visual Arts African American History Famous People Social Studies Sports

Jackie Robinson played a single season with a "Negro League" team.  This 1945 photo, which is maintained by the Library of Congress, depicts him wearing his Kansas City Monarchs uniform.

The Library of Congress tells us more about the Monarchs and Jackie's performance with the team:

In 1945, Robinson played 47 games for the Monarchs of the Negro American League as well as the East-West All-Star game.
