Joan of Arc Trial Transcript - Last Page with Seals Medieval Times Ethics Trials

Joan of Arc’s official trial transcript survives. This image depicts a facsimile of the last page of the trial record.

Near the bottom of the page are two large spots. One marks the place where Pierre Cauchon, Bishop of Beauvais, affixed his seal. The other spot is where Jean LeMaitre, Vice-Inquisitor of Northern France, affixed his seal.

Cauchon, a pro-English Bishop, acted both as prosecutor and judge. It was also Cauchon who condemned Joan to burn at the stake.
