John Glenn - First American to Orbit Earth

This biography of Astronaut John Glenn is introduced by President John F. Kennedy. 

In 1962, Glenn (a combat pilot during World War II and the Korean War) was the first American to orbit the Earth. 

The story of John Glenn takes us back to New Concord, Ohio - where the future astronaut grew up.  It portrays his youth, his military service and his adventures as the commander of Friendship 7 (the name of his space craft).
