John Surratt - In Elmira on April 15, 1865

During his trial, in the summer of 1867, John Surratt produced witnesses who swore he was in Elmira, New York the day after Lincoln's shooting.  John Cass, an assessor whose testimony played a crucial role the trial's outcome, said he saw Surratt on the morning of April 15, 1865.
