Jurassic-Age Fossil Hunting - Blue-Nile Gorge

Jurassic-Age Fossil Hunting - Blue-Nile Gorge Geography History Social Studies STEM Ancient Places and/or Civilizations

The Blue Nile Gorge - near the Ethiopian Rift Valley in Africa - is an important source of Jurassic-Era fossils.

In this image, we see field-crew members collecting fossils along the banks of the Aletu River.  This specific location is near the Aletu’s confluence with the Mugher River.

Thanks to UC Berkeley, you can take a virtual tour of the Blue Nile Gorge and explore the archeological work which happens there.
