LBJ - Democratic Opposition to the Vietnam War

Two weeks before LBJ announced he would not seek his party’s nomination for another term as President, Bobby Kennedy announced that he would run.  America was in the midst of societal turmoil.  From the Watts riots (in LA) to mounting criticism of the Vietnam war, the President was under pressure.

At the beginning of this clip, Senator Kennedy tells the President he believes America will not be successful in Vietnam absent diplomatic overtures.

LBJ seems to agree but continues to escalate the war.
