A university town (then and now), the city provided a rich intellectual environment for the Englishmen. This image depicts the academy building (Academiegebouw) at Leiden University (Universiteit Leiden) in Leiden, The Netherlands.

During medieval times, this part of today's University was a convent chapel.  Now it is the oldest part of Leiden University.

The Pilgrims moved to this town in May of 1609 and remained there until 1620.
