Lilacs - Vincent's May, 1889 Painting Biographies Social Studies Tragedies and Triumphs Visual Arts

Vincent saw lilacs blooming while he was a patient at St Paul's Hospital in Saint-Rémy in the late spring of 1889.  This is his interpretation of that scene, which he created in May, 1889.

The work is now owned by the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Russia.
