Mae Caughlin Capone

Mae Caughlin Capone American History Social Studies Biographies

Mary Josephine Coughlin (whom friends and family called "Mae" or "Josephine") was part of an Irish-American family.  Born in New York, she was living in Brooklyn when she met her future husband, Al Capone, at a dance in 1918.

By all accounts a very nice lady, Mae (1897-1986) had one child - a son (Albert Francis, known as "Sonny") - with her husband.  Two years older than Al, she outlived him by decades.
