Map: The Indians in the United States

Map: The Indians in the United States Geography American History Government Social Studies

This map, referred to as Indians in the United States, depicts the numerous locations of many Native-Americans "at the time of their chief historical importance." It also depicts cessions of Native-American lands, between 1816-1830, as well as "removal of the Southern Indians, 1830-1834."

The map does not depict "The Californian and other tribes along the Pacific Coast" since they "were too numerous to be indicated in any detail."

By 1905, Native-American reservations reflected the vastly diminished ancient tribal lands. This map also depicts the location of those reservations in 1905.
