Women from all walks of life battled the court of public opinion, and the national media, and the federal government ... and each other ... for the right to vote in American elections.

This photo depicts two women who stepped-up on the 22nd of April, 1913.  The Library of Congress, which maintains this photograph, tells us who these women are:
