Nike - Winged Goddess of Victory

Nike - Winged Goddess of Victory Philosophy Ancient Places and/or Civilizations Visual Arts

Nike was the winged Greek goddess of Victory (both in war and in peace).  Often depicted in ancient-Greek vase illustrations, she is pouring libations near an altar fire in this illustration.

Identified in archives as “T24.6 NIKE,” this Attic-Red-Figure amphora is attributed to the “Dresden Painter.”  From the Early Classical period, the amphora and its painting was likely created between 470-460 B.C.
