This image, taken during the Normandy invasion (in June of 1944), provides a panoramic view of Omaha Beach.  On the lower-right of the picture is a Russian 76-mm Howitzer:

GUN EMPLACEMENT OVERLOOKING BEACH. This 76-mm howitzer (Russian) was in the strong point ast of E-1 draw, and was sited for flanking fire on the approaches. Open emplacements were vulnerable to naval gunfire.
