People of Pompeii

In this clip from "Pompeii: The Last Day," we step back in time to learn what happened when Vesuvius powerfully exploded, burying the towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum.

This BBC docudrama, which relies heavily on Pliny the Younger's eyewitness account, also uses computer-generated images to recreate what may have happened during the towns' final moments.
The story of Julius Polybius and his family is based on a 1975 discovery, in Pompeii, of skeletons in the House of Julius Polybius.  Among the skeletons discovered was one of a heavily pregnant girl who appeared to be surrounded by her family.  The girl's body was found on a bed.  The bones of her fetus were also discovered.

This clip is part one of the story.
