The Story of Writing - Poetry Writing

Writing a poem is all about observing the world within or around you. A poem can be about anything, from love to the rusty gate at the old farm. Writing poetry can help you become more eloquent and improve your linguistic 

A poem might just be a thought with a small verse.  Think of an idea and write down everything that comes to mind about the idea. Don’t be afraid to put your open feelings into words about the thing you are writing about in your poem 

Think about why you are writing your poem and who your intended audience is, and then proceed in your writing accordingly.  Then decide what poetry style you want to use:

If you aim to make your poem rhyme, brainstorm word choices.  Use imagery and vivid descriptions. Save your most powerful message for the end of your poem.  Leave the reader thinking…
