Poll Tax Riots - March, 1990

So many people were upset about the "Community Charge" - more popularly known as the "Poll Tax" - that riots erupted throughout Britain.

The will of the people was clearly at odds with the will of the sitting Prime Minister - Margaret Thatcher.  The government's position on the Poll Tax caused the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Nigel Lawson, to resign.

This March, 1990 clip - from ITV News - depicts scenes from one of those riots.
