Power Plant - Pomona, First in California American History Social Studies Tragedies and Triumphs

According to the Annual Report of the Board of Railroad Commission of the State of California:

...[the] first hydroelectric plant in California was constructed near Pomona by the San Antonio Light and Power Corporation and put in operation in 1891.  Electric energy was transmitted a distance of 28 miles at 10,000 volts. (Report, page 64.)
