Princess Bernice Pauahi Paki Bishop - 1875 Visual Arts Biographies Famous People Social Studies World History

Princess Bernice Pauahi Paki Bishop and her husband, Charles Reed Bishop, traveled to San Francisco in 1875.  While there, they visited the studios of Bradley & Rulofson where this photograph was taken.

Three years before, the Princess turned-down King Kamehameha V's request that she succeed him as The Kingdom of Hawaii's sovereign.  No one is sure why she made that decision.
