Pullets - Raised on E.B. White's Saltwater Farm

Pullets-Raised on E.B. White's Saltwater Farm

E.B. White raised “pullets” on his farm in Maine.  What are pullets?

For an answer to that question, we can look at a 1926 picture of a farm where other people - in a different country - are also raising pullets.  It’s an image from New Zealand, and it’s online thanks to Christchurch City Libraries.

The curators, at the library, describe the photo with this caption:

Poultry raising and egg production in Canterbury:  pens of pullets at Fazackerley's poultry farm, Sockburn, Christchurch.  [1926]
