Reza Shah - Picking-up Iranian Soil Biographies Famous Historical Events Geography Social Studies

After he was deposed as Shah - in favor of his son - Reza Shah was exiled.  Before he left his country, he picked-up some Iranian soil that he could have with him wherever he was.  This photo records that moment.

Although he wanted to live in Canada, British authorities did not allow it.  Instead, the former leader of Iran ended-up in South Africa.  He died in Johannesburg, on the 25th of July, 1944.
