Riders on the Beach at Scheveningen

Riders on the Beach at Scheveningen Social Studies Tragedies and Triumphs Visual Arts Nineteenth Century Life

Anton Mauve (van Gogh’s cousin) painted Riders on the Beach at Scheveningen in 1876.  Mauve, a Dutch artist, is credited for giving van Gogh his first set of watercolors. 

This painting is now at the Rijksmuseum, a museum of art and history, in Amsterdam.
