When his uncle offered a prize for the best history of the Biblical story of Moses, six-year-old Robert Louis Stevenson created and illustrated his own version.

Dictating his words to his Mother, R.L.S. drew pictures such as this one. Its caption is:

Israelites Going Out Of Egypt.

The illustration is maintained by the National Library of Scotland.
