Route of Escape - From Ford's Theater Visual Arts American History Disasters Famous Historical Events

John Wilkes Booth knew Ford's Theater very well.  He picked-up his mail there and had performed as an actor in many plays.

After he shot President Lincoln, Booth fled the theater through the back door.  This floor plan, from the National Park Service, depicts the theater's first-floor layout.
