Spanish Flu - "Don't Spit!"

Spanish Flu -

The rate at which people got sick from Spanish Flu, during World War I, was astonishing.  Unsure what was causing the illness - or how, exactly, it was spread - people were warned to wear masks (inside and outside) and to "not spit."

This photograph depicts a scene at the Philadelphia Naval Aircraft Factory.  The sign includes the warning:

Spitting Spreads Spanish Influenza.  Don't Spit.
