St. Basil's Cathedral in 1802 Social Studies World History Russian Studies Philosophy Visual Arts

Fedor Yakovlevich Alekseev (1753 - 1824) painted this oil-on-canvas view of Red Square - with St. Basil's Cathedral prominently featured - in 1801.  The work - entitled "Red Square in Moscow" - measures 32 × 43.5 inches (81.3 × 110.5 cm) and is currently located at the Tretyakov Gallery (in Moscow).
