Steep Bluffs - Deadly Area West of Vierville Draw Visual Arts Famous Historical Events World War II

This stretch of the Normandy coast, code-named "Omaha Beach," was particularly difficult  - and deadly - for Company C, 2d Rangers:

Beach Sector Charlie, west of Vierville draw, saw the assault by Company C, 2d Rangers. They lost nearly half of their men when landing in the middle of the stretch show here; then moved west, scaling the cliff to reach the "fortified" house on the top.  From American Forces in Action - Omaha Beachhead (6 June - 13 June 1944), at page 76.
