Stormy Weather: Normandy Beaches June, 1944 - Painting

Stormy Weather: Normandy Beaches June, 1944 - Painting Famous Historical Events Geography World War II Visual Arts

Omaha Beach was battered during a massive gale which hit the English Channel on June 19-20, 1944.

This image depicts Mitchell Jamieson's June-1944 oil-on-board painting called Storm, Omaha Beach.  It shows that small invasion vessels, which had been used on the 6th of June - just thirteen days before the massive storm - were tossed-about like corks on the water.
