Temple Prison

Temple Prison Geography Social Studies Trials World History Crimes and Criminals

Image of a drawing of the Chateau du Temple (Temple Prison) - in Paris - where Louis XVI and his family were jailed by the French-Revolution authorities.  While there, the King was indicted for alleged crimes.

In 1808, while Napoleon was in power, he ordered the Temple's destruction.  Too many people, who were Royalists, were visiting the place.  As a result, it no-longer exists.
