Zeus, the God of Greece  

The person this amazing temple was made for was Zeus. He is the god of lightning and his other symbol is an eagle. There are many other gods but this temple was only made for Zeus. Zeus is a common but unforgetful God that many people still believe in today. Zeus also has many stories that people greatly savor. A Temple made just for Zeus 

The statue of Zeus, one of the Ancient Seven Wonders, is housed in the Temple of Zeus. Most of the seven wonders got destroyed including this one. Even though this temple did not last long it still held one of our seven wonders. The temple was made to honor Zeus's power. He was very powerful to the Greeks and that was greatly appreciated. This power has many uses like defeating enemies or since it was lightning maybe he could make it rain so the plants could grow.  Zeus’ s Childhood  

Zeus had a pretty rough childhood. His dad had tried to eat him alive.  According to what Cronus thought, one of his children would eventually dethrone him. To avoid that, he made sure none of his own children survived, no matter what. But his mom made a change.  She hid Zeus in a cave, on the island of Crete, where he was guarded by some young warriors that were called Curetes, would hit their swords against each other’s when the child cried. 

Zeus’s  Job

Often referred to as the “Father of Gods and Men”, he is a sky god, weather, law and order, destiny and fate, and kingship. He the controls lightning (the thing he often is using as a weapon) and thunder. Zeus is know as the king of Mount Olympus, a mountain in Greece, the home of pretty much all Greek gods, where he rules the whole world and helps the world survive.

Zeus’s Family life

Zeus had a very large amount of kids. Some of them are Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Hermes (Hercules) , Persephone, Dionysus,Perseus, Heracles, Helen of Troy, Minos, and the Muses. He had 92 kids. 41 were divine (true gods)  and 51 were mortal (normal humans). His wives were  Metis, Themis, Eurynome, Demeter, Mnemosyne, Hera, and Leto. He sure had a LOT of kids.
