Torment of a Kidnapped Slave Boy

Page from the autobiography of Olaudah Equiano (also known as "Gustavus Vassa, The African").

Here Equiano tells us what it was like to be seasick aboard the slave vessel.  When he could not eat, slavers flogged him.  (They wanted him to remain alive, so he could be sold when the ship reached port.)
