 Location of Jupiter Missiles at Cigli, Turkey

On the 28th of October, 1959, the United States and Turkey agreed that America would place Jupiter missiles on Turkish soil.  One site would be at Cigli, as depicted on this map, where 15 Jupiter missiles would be located.

The site became operational in April of 1962.  it was initially staffed by members of the U.S. Air Force who would be gradually replaced by Turkish staff.
