USS Cole - Back in America American History Disasters Famous Historical Events Tragedies and Triumphs

When the guided-missile destroyer USS Cole (DDG 67) was attacked in Aden, Yemen - on the 12th of October, 2000 - seventeen U.S. sailors lost their lives.

The ship returned from Yemen, to America, aboard a transport vessel known as Blue Marlin.

In this official U.S. Navy photo we see the Cole, aboard Blue Marlin, approaching the Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula, Mississippi:
