Uppsala, a beautiful town north of Stockholm, has a long history.  As far back as the 6th century, it was a religious center.

When she was twelve years old, Lisbeth Salander was sent to the town of Uppsala where she lived at St. Stefan's (a fictional place).  This is a view of Uppsala.
