Victorian Cottage - The Bronx in 1899

Victorian Cottage - The Bronx in 1899 Nineteenth Century Life American History Biographies Famous People Social Studies Visual Arts

Even in the 19th century, The Bronx was a very different place than it is today.  In 1899, for example, one could still find charming cottages, nestled in the trees and surrounded by pathways.  Now this borough of New York City is intensely populated with people of various ethnic backgrounds.

This home was owned by Rev. Hasbrock Du Bois.  It was located south of West 166th Street and and east of Woodycrest Avenue.
