War Prize - Achilles Takes Briseis History Legends and Legendary People Social Studies Visual Arts

The scene in this ancient Greek vase is commonly interpreted as Briseis and Phoenix.  It is an Attic red-figure cup, circa 490 BC.  Today, it is at the Louvre, in Paris.

Briseis is the woman whom Achilles captured as a war prize.
