Window at Olney Church - Ship at Safe Harbor

Window at Olney Church - Ship at Safe Harbor Famous Historical Events Slaves and Slave Owners Social Studies Visual Arts World History Poetry

Olney Church, which John Newton served when he wrote "Amazing Grace," has two stained-glass windows which bring-to-life the theme of the song.

This window, depicting a ship arriving safely home, is based on this verse:

Thro’ many dangers, toils and snares,
     I have already come;
’Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
     And grace will lead me home.
