Yuri Dolgorukiy's Moscow Outpost in 1147

Yuri Dolgorukiy's Moscow Outpost in 1147 Biographies Social Studies World History Medieval Times Russian Studies Legends and Legendary People Visual Arts

Historical chronicles tells us that Yrui Dolgorukiy established an outpost called Moscow in 1147.  Those records also tell us that he established a fort there by 1156.

This artist's rather fanciful conception depicts how Yuri Dolgorukiy's outpost may have appeared after he founded an outpost which became a fortified town (then the city) of Moscow.
