WARNING:  THIS CLIP CONTAINS SEGMENTS DEALING WITH SLAVERY AND THE CRUELTIES ASSOCIATED THEREWITH.  IT IS NOT EASY TO WATCH AND IS NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN.  PROCEED WITH CAUTION.

In this clip, from "Simon Schama's Power of Art," we learn more about the Zong affair - when hundreds of innocent Africans were tossed overboard from a slave ship called the Zong - so the owners could collect insurance proceeds.

When news of the murders - which took place in 1781 - reached the British public, many people turned against the slave trade.
